Adding and managing tracked items

How do I add an item?

Tap the green + button on the Home screen (or the + in All Items). Enter a name, choose a category, pick the expiration date, and optionally add a start date, reminders, a photo, and notes. Tap Save Item.

What do the status colors mean?
  • Active (green): more than your "Expiring Soon" threshold away (30 days by default).
  • Expiring Soon (amber): within the threshold, including "Expires Today".
  • Expired (red): the expiration date has passed.
  • Archived (gray): items you've put away. They don't count toward the Free limit.
How do I edit, renew, archive, or delete an item?
  • Edit: open the item and tap … > Edit.
  • Renew: open the item and tap Mark as Renewed, then choose the new expiration date. The previous date is kept in the item's renewal history and reminders are rescheduled.
  • Archive: tap Archive on the item, or swipe right on it in All Items. Swipe right again in the Archived filter to restore it.
  • Delete: swipe left on the item in All Items, or tap … > Delete on the item. You'll be asked to confirm. Deleting is permanent.
How do I find an item?

In All Items, use the search field (it searches names, notes, and category names) and the status chips: All, Active, Expiring Soon, Expired, and Archived. Pro adds category filters. The Calendar tab shows expirations by day.

Notifications and reminders

How do reminders work?

For each item you can choose when to be reminded: 30, 14, 7, or 1 day before, or on the day it expires. Pro also lets you pick custom days and add several reminders per item. Reminders arrive at your Default Reminder Time (Settings > Notifications). They are local notifications, so they work offline.

I'm not getting reminders. What should I check?
  1. In ExpiryMate, open Settings. If it says notifications are off, tap Open Settings and turn on Allow Notifications.
  2. In iOS Settings > Notifications > ExpiryMate, make sure Lock Screen, Notification Center, or Banners are enabled.
  3. Check that a Focus mode or Scheduled Summary isn't holding notifications.
  4. Open the item and confirm it has at least one reminder selected, and that the reminder date isn't already in the past. Reminders whose time has passed are not scheduled.
  5. Make sure your iPhone's date, time, and time zone are set correctly.
  6. Archived items don't send reminders.
iOS limits how many reminders an app can schedule at once. If you have a very large number of reminders, ExpiryMate schedules the soonest ones first and tops up the rest each time you open the app.
I upgraded or my Pro subscription ended. What happens to my reminders?

With Pro, every reminder you choose is scheduled. On the Free plan, each item keeps 1 scheduled reminder (the earliest one you selected). Your reminder choices are saved, so they come back if you subscribe again.

Home Screen widget

How do I add the widget?

Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen, tap Edit > Add Widget, search for ExpiryMate, choose Small, Medium, or Large, and tap Add Widget. The widget is available on both the Free and Pro plans. Tap an item in the widget to open it in the app.

The widget is empty, out of date, or says "Open ExpiryMate".
  1. Open ExpiryMate once. The app updates the widget whenever you add, edit, renew, archive, or delete an item.
  2. The widget only shows active (non-archived) items. If you have none, it will be empty.
  3. Countdowns update automatically at midnight. iOS controls exactly when widgets refresh, so a short delay is normal.
  4. If it still looks wrong, remove the widget and add it again, or restart your iPhone.

The widget shows item names, categories, and dates. It never shows notes or photos.

Subscriptions

How do I manage my subscription?

In ExpiryMate, go to Settings > Manage Subscription. Or open iOS Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose ExpiryMate Pro. From there you can switch between monthly and yearly or cancel.

How do I restore my purchase?
  1. Make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you used to subscribe.
  2. In ExpiryMate, tap Settings > Restore Purchases (also available on the Pro screen).
  3. If an active subscription is found, Pro unlocks right away. If not, you'll see a message that no active subscription was found for this Apple Account.

Restoring unlocks Pro. It does not transfer your items, which are stored only on the original device.

How do I cancel?

Open iOS Settings > your name > Subscriptions > ExpiryMate Pro > Cancel Subscription (or use Settings > Manage Subscription in the app). Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

How do I get a refund?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple. The developer can't issue refunds or see your payment details. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, choose I'd like to > Request a refund, and follow the steps. See Apple's guide: Request a refund for apps or content.

My payment failed. Will I lose Pro?

If Apple can't charge your payment method at renewal, Apple may keep Pro active for a short billing grace period while it retries. Update your payment method in iOS Settings > your name > Payment & Shipping. If the subscription lapses, your data stays on your device and Free plan limits apply.

I subscribed but Pro isn't unlocked.
  1. If the purchase needs approval (for example Ask to Buy), Pro unlocks once it's approved.
  2. Tap Restore Purchases in Settings.
  3. Check that you're signed in with the Apple Account you subscribed with.
  4. Still stuck? Email us and include the approximate purchase date. Never send card details.

Data storage and deletion

Where is my data stored? Is there an account or cloud sync?

Everything is stored on your iPhone. There is no account, no sign-in, and no cloud sync, and the developer cannot see your data. iOS may include ExpiryMate's data in your iCloud or computer device backup, depending on your settings. Read the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I move my items to a new iPhone?

Restoring your new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup of your old one brings ExpiryMate's data with it. Pro subscribers can also use Settings > Export Data to save a JSON file and Import Data on the new device. Photos are not included in exports, and importing skips items that already exist.

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual items in the app (this also deletes their photos, renewal history, and reminders). To remove everything, delete the ExpiryMate app from your iPhone. Because your data isn't stored by the developer, it can't be recovered after deletion unless you have a backup or export.
